Huang Sung T'ung Pao

1039AD - 1040AD

I post below are 3 Huang Sung T'ung Pao cash of Sung Dynasty. They were cast in the second year of Pao Yuan reign (1039AD) of Emperor Jen Tsung of Sung Dynasty. The legends of the first and the third one are written in seal script. The legend of the second one is written in orthodox characters. They are all common coins and read in the normal order. They are various in width of rims and the central holds. Iron cash of the same legend is all existed.

[Mr. O D Cresswell indicated in his book Chinese Cash that the coin legend of same types was chosen to avoid the improper repetition of characters which would have occurred had the period title been used.]
